Hi Guys:

I have a Hangar-9 "Sopwith Camel". These WWI SNJ's (Short Nose Jobs) can be a real challenge but the combination is so "right" I couldn't go any other way.

Sorry for the long run at idle, I was checking to see if it was going to load up. I have my home made glo ignitor adjustable of course and it was "ON" during the test. I had it go to "OFF" at about 4000 RPM. Don't want any deadsticks on the SNJ.

The saw horse landing gear (floor jack) is pretty heavy so I didn't go for the optional retract system Dave.

Now where did we put that snow blade for the mower ?

Hey Tom, That in a sopwith camel will be perfect, great combo!!! Can't wait to see that one! Retracts wouldn't look right on that plane anyway Very Happy Very Happy

Hey Roger:

Did you have to add nose weight or were the batteries enough ?

Yeah these SNJ's are hard to land. I think as with most biplanes these things are best landed with good speed on. If going for a three point stall landing it is a good idea to have spare airframe parts.

Dave the retracts would have been ok except they come up like a Grumman F3F and the big old wheels kept wanting to come out the top of the cowl. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Hey Troy:

Just an aside, why does our icon sometimes lay over the text ?

No nose weight. Just a 5000 6 cell. Mine you have to land slow otherwise the wheel tracking is horrific and it will flip over.
